WAYANG ALOES is a dance theatre group that is made up of individuals who share the same ignited passion for the beauty & warmth of dance & fire. We preserve the culture that was passed down to us & refine (ALOES; Javanese for refine), enhance the art by incorporating contemporary styles to our movements & fire as our main medium/element. Interculturalism being our main forte hopes to embrace the audience with a sound understanding of ‘the importance of preserving our own culture while we ‘move forward’.

Fire never ceases to grab a person’s attention, no matter how small it is. It still burns & emits heat to warm. The adrenalin rush in every performance ignites our creativity to produce vast range of fire acts & choreography. From the fire poi (tradition of the Maori) to the fire fingers / wands, fire ropes & staves, we are able to serve the audience with a platter of fire dance / acts.

With each of the dancers coming from different ethnic backgrounds & artistic experiences, we get together to create a bigger performance in terms of quality & creativity. The ideas & energy contributed makes every single performance full of drama & filled with lots of character as it would be in a WAYANG.

Every & any given space is our stage. We deal with on site choreography as we feel that every venue is unique to every performance. At the same time reaching out to the masses, hoping the generation would view WAYANG as a kaleidoscope of culture & creativity.

We would like to invite you to experience this high energy yet warm escapade out of the everyday norm together with us WAYANG ALOES.
